Movers.

Absolutely the worst. I gave one star because I didn’t get to write a review without one star. They were negative 100 stars. Rude, no communication, constant lies. Gave an estimate which they more than doubled after they picked up. And that’s just the beginning.

There was only one piece of furniture not badly dinged, destroyed or completely busted. TVs were crushed-3 of them. Crystal and pottery broken to the tune of 32,000$. Art, all thrown into boxes unwrapped and all of my art is original-collected over many years was ruined. I have been crying for days over the lack of respect and regard for my things. It’s truly shocking. Even the drivers who delivered the furniture said that they had never seen such devastating damage. Boxes were crushed.

I had to call multiple times for delivery information and still the truck arrived at five on a Saturday night with no warning. No one ever called back. I went three weeks without knowing where my furnishings!! A complete lack of customer service with zero follow through and just downright mean people. I’m filing an insurance claim for well over a hundred and eighty thousand dollars which I don’t believe I will ever see. Run, don’t walk away from this horrid business.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Utah

Comparisons.

I've now got all 3 final quotes. I thank you for your help and professional work.

As you know, the final quote required all misc. expenses and fees to be included in the price per cubic foot and to use 525 cubic feet. There can be no additional expenses at pick up or drop off other than the quoted cubic foot prices for the overages above 525 cubic feet. I truly got apples to apples comparisons for all 3 quotes. The result at 525 cubic feet is as follows:

Horizon-   $2047.50  @  $3.90 per cubic foot     (overages @ $3.90- if 100 cubic feet over add $390)
Payless-   $2140.00  @  $4.00 per cubic foot     (overages @ $4.00- if 100 cubic feet over add $400)
Liberty-     $2020.00  @  $3.85 per cubic foot     (overages @ $3.70- if 100 cubic feet over add $370)

As you can see, all 3 quotes are very close. When prodded the price per cubic foot went from a range of 3.7-4.5 (4.06 avg.) to 3.85-4.00 (3.92 avg.). The $835 total cost difference in the original quotes was reduced to just $120. I made it no secret that I was price driven in this decision and did my best to give all an even playing field.

In the end Liberty is not only the best price at 525 cubic feet, but also getting even better if overages develop. I Have chosen to use Liberty for my move next week. Going into the move, I am confident I made the best decision, and hope that when the move is concluded I feel the same way. If for any reason the move doesn't go as planned I hope to keep all 3 of you informed.

Again I thank all of you for your professionalism.
 .

Long-distance move from New York to Nevada

**scam Alert**.

**SCAM ALERT** do not fall for this scheme.

Early May: $1700 estimate -Studio apartment worth of stufff.

May 8th: $2100 visual estimate — Here is where it starts. Once they had my belongings hostage, they upped the charges to almost — $2800. — What can I do at this point but suck it up and sign the paperwork? Oops, I should have told them to leave my stuff on the sidewalk and rented a Uhaul.

Days and weeks go by and I’m told my stuff has shipped. 4 days after being told this I call for an update. “Mistake in the office” stuff hasn’t shipped yet. *manager yells at me and blames me for their blunders when I call to ask for an update around 5 PM on a weekday. He wanted to go home for the day and could not be bothered.

2 days later I hear the truck broke down. Week later “there was an issue in Utah.” During this time I took 3 days off of work because employees from the company chose to continue to tell me to be available rather than checking in with their driver.

*3 weeks after pickup - after not hearing from anyone from the company for 48 hours, to the point I thought my stuff was stolen, I was greeted on the phone by the manager of 13 years who screamed and yelled at me, threatened to bring my stuff back to NY and refused to allow me to email or call the owner of the company.

Now it is June. My belongings arrived after another $350 charge because the amateur driver they sent couldn’t make a right turn. Think this is bad? Just getting started.

I paid extra money to make sure the movers packed a few choice items including my TV and 3 pieces of furniture my father built before he died. All 4 were broken. All 4. It’s not cool that they smashed my tv after promising to pack it “as if you bought it new” but who cares? My dead father’s furniture is broken. He built it with his own hands and then died. Now it is broken. One piece was literally snapped in half. Again, I paid extra money to make sure these were packaged well. They were not. I spent the next 2 hours crying on my floor holding the pieces of my dead father’s furniture in my hands.

*Conclusion: over $3400 to move a studio apartment’s worth of things after a quote of half the price. Absolutely no professionalism whatsoever at any level in the company. Cared more about covering themselves legally than taking care of my most precious belongings.48 hour disappearing acts. Oh wait, there is more, after the movers broke all of my stuff they laughed about it. When I asked them to respect my belongings they laughed more, flipped me off and threatened me physically. They would not leave until I told them I would call security. Still waiting to speak to the owner of the company.

*Short conclusion: DO NOT USE THESE CON ARTISTS!! Do not make the same mistake I did. I tried to support a local business and they burned me for it in every possible way.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Florida

Moved free m NJ to Fla.

They doubled the price for us to. Estimate of $4000.00. Am the time of the move it was 8000.00. That was not bad enough. They broke my dresser dropped my husbands dresser on the cement. Cracked in two places and the doors no longer shut. I did most of the packing which they were suppose to do. What they did pack was a chandelier that was my mother’s a ceramic floor lamp and a lucite shell lamp. All thrown in a wardrobe box with no packing materials. Of course they are damaged beyond repair. My refrigerator was broken. They gouged my brand new wood floor in several places. Hadn’t even pay d the contractor yet. I found our birdbath tv and table legs in an outdoor deck box. Unwrapped just thrown in there broken. I was afraid to keep opening boxes out of fear of what I was going to find. They had the balls to offer me an insurance check for 123.00. I am going to get a lawyer.

Long-distance move from Woodside, NY to W Hartford, CT

Liberty Moving Group = Sketchy Scam Artists looking for your $$.

TLDR: Do not use Liberty Moving Group, they are sketchy and may try to scam you. Check out Shleppers for affordable rates and amazing customer service.

Derrick from Liberty Moving Group gave me a call after I used a moving website to request quotes from moving companies in my area. I spoke with Derrick and outlined the following: I was looking to only move my bedroom set furniture and a couch from my living room, I lived on a 4th floor walkup and was moving to a 3rd floor walkup. Derrick quoted me $1000 for my move from NYC to CT, he made me feel comfortable and I was excited to work with Liberty. Thursday, I reached out to Derrick asking if I was all set - yes, everything was all set, expect the guys to arrive between 9-10 am, okay great. On Friday, the Liberty guys called me and told me to expect them between 7-9am. Saturday came around, the day of the move, the guys didn't get to my apt until 9 am, fine. So the main guy comes up to my apartment, I show him my stuff and that's when things start getting sketchy - he tells me that there are extra charges for my move because they had to park their truck far away from my apartment and there are extra charges for the stairs at both pickup and delivery. So the first issue, my partner and I resolve - simply park in front of the apartment, there's room for other cars to get around, we'll even watch the truck so Liberty doesn't get a ticket. Pretty basic and logical moving stuff, especially for NYC - the first warning sign that something was not quite right. Now, with the stair charges, I'm pretty annoyed because I had clearly explained to Derrick what the scope of the work was - 4th floor to 3rd floor, no elevators at either site. The stair charges they were trying to pin me with last minute ($120/stair) brought the $1000 cost to $1600, a 60% increase. My partner and I try to speak with the guys and then their supervisor over the phone to understand the additional charges and why they weren't included in the quote. The main guy onsite starts to try and negotiate, saying we'll do it for $500, not $600 - another sign of sketchiness. The supervisor over the phone then says something along the lines of, we always charge for stairs, it's required by law for our guys. Yet, if these charges are required by law - why weren't they included in the quote? Sketchy alarms going off everywhere. To move a very small amount of furniture, my quote increased from $1000 to $1920 ($1600 + tip), almost 2x the original quote. I was extremely uncomfortable with the updated quote and with the guys, themselves. I simply did not trust them, I had a feeling that the $1920 pricing would only go up from there since they were to be paid by the hour and I did not want to have my things held hostage. I cancelled Liberty Group movers right then and there, parted ways with them amiably, called up Shleppers and scheduled a move with them for the next day, Sunday. Working with Shleppers in comparison to working with Liberty Group was like night and day! Shleppers quoted me $1289, they showed up early at 8:15 (slated to arrive between 9-10am), did the job in an hour, drove everything up, got everything setup in the new place within an hour or so - it was perfect!! And Shleppers didn't have any additional charges, so I ended up paying $1600 with tip included - the updated base rate w/stairs that Liberty Moving Group was trying to push on me. Great learning lesson for me, I hope that my experience helps other people as well. Check out Shleppers people, forget these Liberty Moving Group folks - you simply can't count on them.

Absolutely Pathetic and unprofessional business.

After running around in circle without any resolution I was forced today to submit a review to BBB. The company and moving foreman are a joke. Came unprepared in a rental truck with no prerequisites like wardrobe boxes, wrapping blankets as included and agreed upon in the quote I got. Broke my TV,glass closet as they didn't even have a dolly to move storage bins/boxes from the truck. On top of that, held my stuff hostage till I give them expected overtime in cash when reached the move-in location, literally dumped my stuff in my new place and fled the scene.

Long-distance move from New York, NY to New Carlisle, OH

Stolen And Severly Damaged.

DO NOT HIRE LIBERTY. Every single aspect of this move was unprofessional. Lies. Lies. Lies. from the quote to the timing and not to mention the employees. You completely destroyed my collectible, expensive Cannondale road bike. After "losing" it in the move, it was found and returned insanely damaged. Unridable. Claims will not be enough. We are filing suit on Liberty in court with our lawyers for this all around awful experience. You're reviews speak for themselves. This is why we did NOT hire you. You took over the job from another moving company, unlawfully. We will be taking them to small claims court. We've already contacted our lawyers who feel very strongly about this case.

Withheld property & damage beyond repair

Save your time & look elsewhere. This shady company wants all your money & provide 0 professionalism. They’ve held our property claiming it’s legal to do so, does not go by their “binding contract”, & delivers items in horrible conditions. They force you tip their workers & also to sign documents to cover their rear end before delivering & completing the job. I paid $6000 for their service only to be treated like the city where they come from…trash!!! Save your money, do it yourself or pay this company and look for a lawyer because you’ll need one!!! All of their staff should be in jail! Adam (warehouse manager) everyone in dispatch ( so many fake names given to me) Lucas! Who assigned this piece of garbage to our family as well.

Liberty Moving Group-- Nightmare From Start to Finish!

SCAMMERS! DONT USE THESE MOVERS!! I did TONS of research and used Liberty Moving Group despite several unsettling reviews. We decided to use them because their price was about $1200 cheaper than any other company quoted (per cubic foot and by weight)! Many of the complaints were about being charged a totally outrageous amount more than their quotes. I figured the complaints were from people who were not thorough on their inventory, I WAS WRONG! I gave them a tremendously accurate inventory of everything being moved, down to the exact amount of boxes (WITH the measurements of the boxes since they were all the same) & descriptions of the furniture we had, down to the vacuum & artificial standing plants!! I also called 3 days before the move with the final tally of every box and reviewed the furniture inventory with Alexis AGAIN and she sent me a final quote of $2350. I asked about "hidden charges" like long carry fees or anything else that might change the quote because of all the complaints I had read. Alexis was very good at reassuring me everything was fine and there should be no unexpected charges. The movers were fast but messy, leaving empty soda bottles, tubes, and tape everywhere. Once the truck was all packed the guy in charge came over and told me we had used much more space than they had planned (even though my inventory was accurate) I had a notebook with an inventory of what was in each numbered box we had packed, that is how thorough I was through the entire process of moving! They put a sticker on each  piece they put in the truck and argued that we had almost doubled the inventory of what was quoted and THAT WAS WHY our estimate is jumping from $2350 to $5900! MORE THAN DOUBLE! WHAT?!? We were in total shock and reluctantly signed their inventory sheet. What were we going to do, have them unload the truck and call off the move? My job had already hired someone to replace me! Then, as if that wasn't enough, he asked where their tip was! (We had bough them all lunch) When I said I had no cash on me, especially after doubling the cost, the guy actually had the nerve to say, and I QUOTE "Write another check! You know if you don't take care of us, we can't promise to take care of your stuff!" WHAT AGAIN?!? As we hit the road for our 2 day drive from PA to Florida, I started to read the chicken scratch on the new inventory and contract we were given and realized the reason the inventory was so much more was because they take the legs off tables, beds, and whatever comes apart and counts each piece as 1, so one coffee table turns into 5 pieces, the kids bunk bed turns into a dozen pieces, etc. I called and argued that more than doubling the quote was ridiculous when I gave such a detailed inventory, taking stuff apart should already be figured into the quote and that I felt they low balled the quote so we would choose them! They said the stuff hadn't left yet for the move and so I asked if they could put it in storage til I could get the money together, like it states on the contract, you have 30 days free storage. Then all of a sudden I was told the stuff was already in Virginia and "NO", if I wanted it stored then I needed to say so before pick up. It doesn't state that anywhere on the contract! It was just one lie after another! I discussed it with my wife and we crunched numbers and sadly decided we just didn't have enough money to pay for the new apartment AND the movers, so we called the bank and put a stop payment on the check for half the cost of the move $2800. We told Liberty to keep our stuff and we'd have to start all over again and buy cheap and used furniture, clothes, toys for the kids, EVERYTHING. Losing ALL pictures, wedding dress, baby books, kids toys, expensive electronics, but we had no choice! They tried to haggle over the price but only came down $300! We were in Florida a week and had already spent $1000 on used furniture, housewares, etc. when the owner called telling that we needed to pay for our stuff. I tried to explain money doesn't grow on trees and we felt we were being ripped off. After ALOT of yelling and many phone calls to us they finally settled on a price of $2700 once he realized we stopped payment. But it left us stuck with all the used items we got and $1000 less in our budget til we found jobs!  he said they would be there first thing in the morning and we HAD to have cash before they unloaded. We ran all over town trying to have the money wired directly from our PA account to FL that day and the movers ended up not showing til 3 days later! After all the lies they had told I was so paranoid that they were going to take the payment and drive off, that I went down and watched them maneuver and park the truck. These 2 guys were great, very nice, and only contracted by Liberty. We explained all we had been through and he told us that the OWNER OF LIBERTY MOVING GROUP, who pretended to be nice on the phone, told them to "Just make sure you get the cash first then toss everything right there in the F'in parking lot and just leave!" Luckily this guy had a conscience and said he couldn't do that to someone, especially because we lived on the 3rd floor! Oh and about $400 worth of property was broken and boxes clearly marked "FRAGILE" were dented. U can email me questions irishkellyb1@hotmail.com!
